In 1971, the Hilldale Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. was developed when, Multicon, the developer of the Hilldale residential planned development project in Hoffman Estates became a reality. The setting was on the former Marshall Field Company recreational property (gun club). The Village of Hoffman Estates required a certain minimum percentage of the development be retained as permanent open space. Lo and behold they decided to make use of the open space and created the golf course.

When the residential portion of the development was opened, the residents were given an incredible package that included free golf. Several of the residents were
avid golfers, so they created a weekly program that provided a competitive atmosphere to challenge their golfing skills.

Later on, the manager of the golf course recommended that they organize the group into a mini private club with weekly events and other action that would give them an atmosphere of a private club at a public course. Weekly events and an annual Member/Guest tournament were created. From that modest beginning, the Hilldale Men's Club has evolved into what it is now, with a membership that has ranged from 75 to 100 members playing competitive golf with the USGA handicap system leveling the field, so all of the members can enjoy the opportunity of taking home some of the rewards for playing to their ability.
